LX Pantos Supports SME Partners’ Legal Compliance
- Aiming to enhance logistics partners’ capabilities in preventing serious accidents
and in complying with safety regulations for mutual prosperity
On March 27, 2024, LX Pantos announced that it had hosted a seminar the previous day for its SME logistics partners on how to prepare for the expanded application of Korea’s Serious Accident Punishment Act.
Held on March 26 at the main auditorium of LX Pantos’ headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, the seminar was designed to guide SME partner companies through adapting to recent legislative changes.
With the Korean Serious Accident Punishment Act extending its reach on January 27, 2024, to cover workplaces with 5 to 49 employees—a notable expansion from the former threshold of over 50 employees—LX Pantos’ seminar sought to prepare its SME logistics partners for this change by facilitating the establishment of proactive systems for preventing serious accidents and crafting practical response strategies. The seminar attracted over 80 participants, including representatives and safety managers from 35 LX Pantos partner companies.
LX Pantos collaborated with legal specialists from the law firm Barun Law to deliver a comprehensive outline of how to cope with the law.
The seminar comprised four main sessions: ▲ Strategies for meeting health and safety obligations under the Serious Accident Punishment Law (presented by In-Cheol Kim, Safety & Health Team Leader at LX Pantos), ▲ An easy-to-understand guide to navigating the Serious Accident Punishment Law (by Ji-Hee Kim, attorney at Barun Law), ▲ An in-depth Q&A on the broader implications of the Serious Accident Punishment Law (by Sang-Tae Jung, attorney at Barun Law), and ▲ Essential guidelines for responding to serious accident investigations (by Tae-Hoon Kang, attorney at Barun Law). An interactive Q&A session, including case studies on LX Pantos’ business premises, was especially appreciated by attendees.
Hwan-Soo Kim, a director at Manwoo Logistics Co., Ltd., commented on the seminar’s timely relevance, noting, “Facing the new legal responsibilities was daunting, as this was our first time falling under such a regulation. The seminar’s timing couldn’t have been better and provided us with invaluable insights into formulating robust response strategies and enhancing our safety measures.”
