Pantos Logistics Selected as a Model Contractor
for Logistics Security Management System
- The Company’s competitiveness upgraded with security.

Pantos Logistics (President & CEO: Sung-koo Yeo), the largest logistics business in Korea, was selected as a model contractor to build a logistics security management system under the supervision of the Korea Strategic Trade Institute (KOSTI). The logistics security management system project is being executed by the Government with a view to increasing the number of domestic businesses capable of earning the ISO 28000 (international standard for the logistics security management system) certification.

Pantos Logistics plans to become the nation’s first business to win the certification within the year after completing the project by July. As a business that operates 70-plus local corporations and branches in 30 countries and handles an enormous volume of freight (1.7 million TEU in ocean freight and 270,000 tons in airfreight annually), Pantos Logistics expects that the ISO 28000 certification will enhance the quality of its worldwide logistics service considerably by securing exemption from security inspections, simplifying the customs clearance procedure, and reducing cargo waiting times.

The decision to select Pantos Logistics and three other Korean companies for the project is said to have been made based on a couple of major factors, namely the management’s commitment to logistics security and its experience with the ISO system.

※ ISO 28000 (supply chain security) applies to all businesses involved in the supply chain, including manufacturers, transporters, and storage businesses. Earning the ISO 28000 certification means that the relevant businesses have secured their logistics security system against terrorist acts or other threats in compliance with the relevant international standards.
